" The Easter Events" by Gerhard Lohfink

"What really happened among Jesus' followers after Good Friday? How can we understand the phenomenon that they first separated and then came back together again? How can we explain that, despite the catastrophe of Good Friday, they suddenly became a community?"

Chapter 18 of the recent book, Jesus of Nazareth: What He Wanted , Who He Was (Liturgical Press, 2012) by Gerhard Lohfink deals with these questions. Please click here or see copy in our FileBox (Arnoldus Lib circulation desk).

The book, according to the North American biblical scholar, Daniel Harrington, SJ, is "the best Jesus book I know. It is solidly based on sound biblical scholarship, full of fresh theological insights, respectful of the Gospels and their portraits of Jesus, and beautifully expressed."

Lohfink was professor of New Testament exegesis at the University of Tübingen (Germany) and a Catholic priest.
